With a well-rounded foundation and over 20 years experience in the food industry, Melanie provides clients with unrelenting energy and a fresh perspective.
In her previous life, she was a Research Chef for a small family-owned flavor company in NJ until she wrote an article for Pastry Art and Design magazine. The art director needed a Food Stylist, and of course Melanie obliged. She's been playing with her food professionally ever since.
Truth be told, though, she was playing with her food long before that. Barefoot in the dirt planting seeds, picking sun warmed fruit from her father's orchard and baking with her mother peaked her child's interest. She cultivated her enthusiasm by earning Food Biochemistry
and Studio Art degrees from the University of California at Davis and a Culinary Arts degree from the Culinary Institute of America,
Hyde Park. She has sweated in restaurant kitchens, developed in food labs and donned hairnets in food manufacturing facilities. Melanie understands foods and the processes they endure. She loves the sounds foods make and often encourages others not to be shy- to really get in there and play, touch, feel and listen to the foods they are working with.
When she is not styling food, she is developing and testing recipes, writing articles, arranging flowers and planning crazy events.
